Easy to Use but transfers are darker than original July 16, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a very easy to use device. I use it on my Mac with iMovie and iMovie recognizes it as if it were a digital camcorder (via FireWire port). Its video and audio transfer is solid, but after transferring many hours of VHS, I can say it consistently digitizes the video *darker* than the original. In some cases this causes an area that was somewhat dimly lit in the original to become just plain black. This can be a problem for indoor home-movie style video. If I were to improve this product I'd add adjustments for brightness and contrast as small dials/knobs. I see there is now a DAC-200 so perhaps this new version solves this problem?
Are you ready to work? June 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
That was a question I found myself asking this quite a few times. For some odd reason, it wanted to switch from analog video to digital video, even though I never told it to. I'm sure there was some explanation, but I lost the instructions, and had to wing it. When it actually did work, it was very efficient, and I was happy with it. It's very useful for someone who doesn't have a digital camera, such as myself, but I'd like it more if it stayed on the setting I told it to stay on.
MIRACLE APPARATUS January 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
IT'S PERFECT... VERY EASY USING... I'M A TV JOURNALIST...BEFORE 2 MONTHS, I WAS IN PAKISTAN... I TRANSFERED MOVIE FROM PROFESSIONAL CAMCORDER TO MY LAPTOP WITH DAC-100. I EDITED MOVIES AND MAKE A NEWS CLIP. AFTER, I TRANSFERED THIS CLIP ON THE INTERNET TO TURKEY... AND IT'S BROADCASTED ON THE TV... THIS APPARATUS IS SUPER... I RECOMMEND ALL THE BROADCASTERS...(SORRY, MY ENGLISH IS NOT GOOD)
Easy to use January 10, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I pressume that the DAC-100 has been discontinued because I ordered one and I received the DAC-200. It looks the same and performs like the DAC-100. It was very easy to install, I would say intuitive. The inructions are clear and simple, and the performance is excellent. I have used it to convert some of my old VHS tapes to DVD's with excellent results. I also used to capture scenes from DVD's to mix with my own video footage. I both cases the DAC-200 performed flawlessly. If you are into video and video editing this is a tool to have, easy to install and easy to use.
