Amazon.com Product Description Despite a low price tag and small size, the JVC SXM250 has the versatility of recording in three different formats. The SVHS mode creates high quality recordings that rival the broadcast TV standard, and you can record with the same high resolution on any VHS-C tape with the SVHS ET mode, or use the standard VHS mode and enjoy the greatest level of compatibility with other players. Other features of the camcorder include a large 2.5-inch LCD screen, 16x optical zoom, video light, 70 special effects and transitions, title generator, and VHS-C playpack. Lens The optical zoom magnifies up to 16 times while the digital zoom, which works by electronically enhancing the optical image, reaches up to 600 times. The digital image stabilization system keeps the picture steady and solid throughout zooms and camera shakes. The low lux function boosts camera sensitivity in low light situations to improve the video image. Manual controls such as focus, exposure, and white balance give the user greater flexibility in shooting. The SXM250 also has digital enhancements such as a time base corrector and chroma noise reduction that enhances picture quality. Inputs and Outputs The standard RCA input/output and cable are included so you can hook the camcorder to a TV for convenient viewing or a VCR for dubbing to regular VHS.
Product Description The GR-SXM250 is ready for 2003 with a new compact stylish design. This new design is the smallest VHS-C model to date with a 2.5" LCD. The JVC GR-SXM250 boasts three recording modes: it uses Super VHS recording to deliver up to 60% better resolution than JVC standard models for better quality home movies. For quality and economy, the Super VHS ET mode lets you take those high-resolution videos using any VHS-C tape. For compatibility with any VHS video recorder, standard VHS is also available. A 2.5" LCD view screen allows the camera to be operated from any angle, for maximum comfort. The picture stabilizer gets rid of annoying picture shake. The 600X zoom makes sure you don't miss any of the action. A built-in light improves the picture in nighttime situations. Endurance Shooting allows up to two hours recording time with the provided battery pack. When you are done recording, the tapes play back and can be shared in any VHS video recorder using the provided VHS-C Playpak.

Excellent for the price BUT... June 17, 2003 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
We love this new camera because it is the same features we had in our old camera.. We wanted a new one that had the flip out screen and for the price it cant be beat... BUT we cant believe they took away the personal title generator where you could type your own title in instead of using the 7 or 8 presets they have... It was a must ~ now we will have to learn to do without.. Still a great buy for those not willing or ready to go to digital and still wanting the top features...
JVC GRSXM250 S-VHS-C Camcorder with 2.5" LCD, Auto-Light June 16, 2003 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I Think it's an upgrade from GRSXM240 S-VHS-C Camcoder. one special feature is you can use batttery or adapter power even when the battery pack is loaded. It also has a locking on/off switch, with a nice red button to press for recording.
Excellent choice for first time video camera buyers. October 12, 2003 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is the first video camera I've purchased, and I'm completely satisfied with it after several months of use. I've found it to be affordable (important initial consideration), lightweight(important if you're brave enough to let the kids record), simple to use(important if you let grandma borrow it to record the other grandkids), and the recordings to be top-notched. These basic features and an excellent brand-name should make any new purchaser feel confident with this camera as his/her initial choice. One caution, the camera's package includes everything you need but a blank VHS-C tape (something experience camera users are aware of, but novices are not, hence the 4 stars, not the 5).
JVC Camcorder Model GR-SXM250U ~Lens Cap Error~ January 21, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this camera almost 2 years ago, and it has been great. This camera has a lot of cool features. However, I was very disappointed when I went to use it over the holidays, and it said "lens cap" on the screen. I thought I was crazy because the lens cap was removed and I still got message on the lcd screen. Long story short, I can only watch tapes and no longer record. I have notified JVC and I am still waiting for a response on how to correct the problem. I really like the camera and I hope it can be repaired. If any body has experienced this problem~ please let me know what you did to correct it and if it was very expensive.
good for the $$$ February 5, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This camera does a GREAT JOB for the price. It has all kinds of great features and effects. The only negative I can think of is that it makes a slight noise when zooming in and out.
