5 out of 5 stars works 100% for a psp   October 25, 2007

if you are buying this for a psp, then YES IT WORKS! It is awesome! People are saying that its slow loading movies, but I've had no problems. I had more wait time loading movies on my 4gb then on the 8. Have no doubt this is the real deal, an 8gb for the psp. movies/pictures/songs can hold it all!!

5 out of 5 stars It's a memory Card.... but Beware of Fakes!   January 7, 2008

So I ordered the 8GB memory card from a retailer on Amazon. It came in, and everything looked as it should. Then as I started to use it in my Video camera, I was getting error messages and data corruption issues. I did some searching around on the internet and I found that the error is usually do to counterfeit memory cards. So I looked on the page and they gave a great list of things to look for. Biggest giveaway that mine was not really from Sony:
* There was no product information paper on the inside in several languages
* The UPC had MSX-M8GST/X, the valid UPC does not have the "T/X" at the end, and the actual number under the UPC was for a 1GB memory card.
* Obviously the bad performance of the card.

I talked with Amazon, and got the seller to refund my money and I ordered it directly from Amazon. When I looked at the two packages side by side, there was an obvious difference. On the card, the print was very faded (and incorrect) versus the legit card.

So the card itself is great, but buyer beware of the fakes. Here is a good article that talks about spotting fakes: [...]

2 out of 5 stars Compatibility Issues left unmentioned   October 7, 2007

I bought this card hoping to be able to take longer movies and have more pics with my Sony DSC H2. I must say it was a major dissapointment to find out that this card is not compatible for the full 8gb with my camera. It does work, but only up to 4gb....so what's the point (may as well be listed as a 4gb card). I'm sure I'll get someone who feels the need to lecture me on how I should've read the manual, or it's my job to know what is compatible with what. I actually agree to a certain extent, but understand that I did try to do that and the info was just not available at the time. I did look around and didn't see anything telling me that it wouldn't work, after all I do own a Sony camera and this is Sony's proprietary Memory Stick we're talking about. Even the camera guy at Best Buy could not give me an answer other than, "well buy it and see if it works". He may not be that smart, but it is his job to know stuff like that and we couldn't look it up. If nothing else, some kind of warning shoud've been listed on the Amazon page and since there isn't, I guess my review serves that purpose.

I give it two stars because it works, but not as advertised. If Sony is so willing to take my money on a new Memory Stick card, then they should at least put some resources into how their new stuff will be compatible with the older lines. Again, my camera isn't the latest (H7 & H9), but it is the model that was superceded by them (H2 H5) so its still fairly new. Sony should've foreseen the problem and issued a firmware upgrade prior to the release of the card, and now I feel like I've been duped into being a product tester for them. Unfortunately, I took the camera on a trip with the new memory stick, but ran out of memory because it was too late when I found out the issue. I've called them and apparently they are emailing me back (see the discussion below for sony telephone numbers if you are in the same boat as me).

Hopefully they plan on issuing a firmware upgrade to allow people who have bought recent cameras to be able to use this memory card. I enjoy my H2, and do not want to "ugrade" to the H7 or H9. To be honest, from the reviews I've read and pics posted in various forums - I think the H2 is a better camera considering the 15x zoom is really only usable to the 12x and that it doesn't have the "fine/standard option". If they do not issue a firmware upgrade, then it's pretty obvious that there's a good chance Sony actually knew all this in advance and possibly even planned it as a way to sell more camera upgrades. I'm not going to go so far as say that, but we'll see how they respond to this problem.

I always thought Sony made a good product on the whole, but at some point the choices they continue to make, in regards to always trying to make a buck on new customers rather than also taking care of the ones they currently have, becomes a major negative for me when it comes time to decide what I'll buy next. I refuse to be a Sony customer for life just because it's what I've bought in the past. I just shelled out nearly half a grand for all the stuff I needed with that camera, if their business plan is really to try and get people to buy a new camera every year then I foresee myself going in other directions besides Sony.

First of im not a kid! I just dont feal like joining Amazon at this momment in time.
I recently purchased it for my Sony Ericsson W850I and what can I say its amazing! I have already put 1564 tracks on the phone and its loaded with themes and I have taken 147 Photos with 2 million pixels and videos and I still have room for 367mb! It is made from the strongest plastics and it dosnt feal its going to snap in your hand! My w850 is now the ultimate phone! I have tested it with the psp and my wifes digital camera and it all works (she has a 1gb card, just wanted to make the revew more helpful!)

4 out of 5 stars 8 Gigs is a lot of stuff   July 26, 2007

Verrryyy Niiiccee as Borat would say, this product rocks. 8 gigs is huge for a PSP or digital camera. I use mine for my PSP and I have 3 movies, about 250 songs, 1000 pictures, every demo game made and all of my game saves and downloaded content on the stick! It is excellent, however it is not quite as fast as my old 4 Gig Sandisk card, but you really only notice when opening the videos folder and while transferring from a PC. It is still fairly quick and I definitely recommend getting one if $200 sounds like a good deal to you!
