Product Description This book/eBook package is your guide to getting more interesting and creative photos with the 10.2 megapixel Nikon D200 digital SLR. If you want to learn more about the concepts of photography, this book/ebook is for you. It discusses every camera setting on this professional-quality camera in a clear, well-illustrated style, with many integrated tips and QuickSteps, but it also does much more. You'll see why and when you use specific settings, not just how to set them. Youll find that this guide helps you quickly master your camera so youll be getting the kinds of photos you hope for. The book is printed in black & white and has a well-liked spiral binding that lets the book lie flat or be folded back. The accompanying eBook on a CD disc is a printable and searchable full-color version of the same book in Adobe's popular PDF format. It can be read on a PC or Mac using the free Acrobat Reader or any current Web browser. This eBook also includes clickable links to over 50 interactive animations that illustrate the core concepts of digital photography. With these new features you'll be able to interact with such concepts as exposure compensation, lens focal lengths, histograms, and much, much more. (To use these features you do need an Internet connection.) Just some of the things you'll learn are how to take pictures in fully automatic point and shoot mode and how your camera captures digital images; how to play back and manage your images; use buttons, dials, and menus; control image size and quality; shoot continuously, use all of the cameras exposure modes and exposure controls to get photos that show the scene exactly as it is, or as you want to interpret it; using histograms and the RAW format for the highest possible quality; how to control sharpness in your photographs; and how to use focus, depth-of-field, sharpness, softness, and blur creatively. Learn all about light and color and how to use them creatively. Understand how they change throughout the day and seasons, how theyre affected by the weather, and how lights direction and quality affects highlights and shadows. See how to set white balance to capture colors the way you see them. Learn how to use lenses creatively when photographing scenery, interiors, people, and very small subjects. See how zoom, wide-angle, normal, telephoto, and macro mode affects your images. See how to creatively use an external flash both indoors and out and in good light and bad and how to use studio lighting for product shots and portraits. Explore special techniques such as fill and slow sync flash. See how to shoot panoramas, store your own settings, control image qualities such as tone, sharpness and hue, shoot in black & white, use custom functions and other settings, and enter a print order. Finally, learn how to care for your camera and clean dust from the sensor so you dont get black spots on your images.

Dennis does it again - a great instructional manual August 11, 2006 RonAnnArbor (Ann Arbor, MI United States) 30 out of 31 found this review helpful
Dennis's books have been excellent for each of the cameras I have used. This one for the D200 is no exception. This camera is feature-rich, and this book/ebook covers the bases. The color ebook looks sharp and includes animations that demonstrate some of the broader concepts in photography. The printed manual, while black and white, allows you to read through the pages in a spiralbound volume that lies flat. What makes these manuals not only terrific guides to the specific cameras, is also the general knowledge imparted on basic photography skills throughout the book - "Here's how to use the feature" on the one hand and "This is why" on the other.
Save your money October 17, 2006 James C. Longuillo (rochester, ny USA) 26 out of 29 found this review helpful
Anyone who owns a Nikon D200 most likley has a basic understanding of photography.. This book goes into basic photography using the D200. Information you can easily find if you just read the manual.. The CD does make it more convient but your money would be better spent on something else.
Nikon D200 Short Course May 6, 2007 Kenneth C. Rogers (BETHESDA, MD United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I find this a well organized and useful handbook for a new user of a D200.
I have several books on the D200 and still keep returning to this one from time to time, because it is easy to read and to find information.
I am pleased to have added it to my library.
good but coulod be better August 5, 2006 P. A. Flusche (Jupiter, FL) 25 out of 32 found this review helpful
The black and white spiral bound paper manual that came with my purchase was just a print out of the manual that is on CD. The information on the CD is worth the price but the package would be better if it were just the CD thus allowing me to print out the pages I want. With just the CD the price could be lowered and make it an even better deal. The book is really really good with detailed information on the camera and also includes a great deal of general digital photography information that will help in understanding the camera and it's use.

The book and disk were as advetised and what I was looing for. It has helped me better understand the workings of the camera. Unfortunately, the Nikon books are very poorly writtten or edited.
